Psoriatic Arthritis

EnglishSpanish
It is a peripheral, inflammatory arthropathy that occurs concomitantly with cutaneous psoriasis which, if persistent, often results in joint deformity and limited mobility. It can be found in 6% of patients undergoing psoriasis, usually involving the joints, the skin and the nails. Among the most affected joints, the following can be mentioned: distal interphalangeal joints of the feet and the hands, vertebral column, sacroiliac joint, and big joints. Psoriasis -a primary, hereditary condition of the skin- is insidious, recidivating and slowly progressive. It presents with erythematosquamous lesions including papules and well-delimited, chronic inflammatory plaques, covered in thick, silver white squama varying in size. It is localized in the extensor surface of the limbs, elbow, knee, sacral region, scalp, and nails, with different degrees of itchiness.
